Randy claims Pensacola, Florida as his home since his father held the Command post at the Naval Air Station there for several years prior to his father’s retirement. Randy earned the rank of Captain in the US Marine Corps, receiving his wings in 1976. He flew F-4 Phantom Jets, attended Naval Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun ’79) and participated in the Iran Hostage Rescue attempt in April 1980. Following the tour of duty, Randy spent time at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center in 29 Palms, California working on the development of Marine Corps mechanized warfare in the desert. Randy’s final duty station was in Beaufort, SC and he eventually moved to the Atlanta, GA area. Randy also mentioned that if you are curious, he has never met Tom Cruise while he was on active duty. Randy’s only “child” is Raul Alberto Thatcher, a Havanese de Cuba dog breed (bi-lingual at that). When not having a good time playing with Raul, Randy enjoys playing music on his guitar, dancing with his “special someone” and enjoying friendships with other veterans at the local American Legion. Randy has dedicated his 18-year career at Southeast Mortgage to helping individuals and families build wealth and security through homeownership.
